Job Description

Two apprenticeship vacancies are on offer at Team Green Horses, which is a busy competition and hunter livery yard who have built a reputation for expert, knowledgeable care and training. The candidates must be keen, hardworking, hold a strong work ethic and be willing to learn.


Owner, Sarah George, has over 30 years industry experience which includes event horses, show jumpers, polo ponies, endurance horses, hunters, show horses and racehorses. She is also an experienced stud groom and has spent time working in a veterinary practice. She has vast experience of rehabilitating horses post injury.

She has successfully trained numerous Point to Point and Hunter Chase winners and has started / broken in many horses who have gone on to be extremely successful in a variety of disciplines as well as many pleasure horses.

She competed her own horses at dressage and eventing and has competed horses for various owners gaining much success. She has regularly represented the riding club on teams and is currently the Team Manager for the Horse Trials / Arena Eventing and Eventers Challenge Teams.

All general yard duties such as:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out
  • Riding
  • Grooming
  • Tack cleaning
  • Keeping the yard tidy

Future Prospects

Possibility of Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2.

Reality Check

No accommodation available, but there is the possibility to take your own horse.

Skills Required

You must have some good equine experience already otherwise you will not be considered for this position.

Qualifications Required

Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English, or C/4 or above in GCSE's or equivalent.
