Wheelwrights Arms area small country inn looking to recruit an Apprentice Commis Chef to assist in all areas of the kitchen.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an apprentice commis chef to learn new skills and develop existing ones.

We are a small Country Inn with passion for great food and a hardworking team.

The successful candidate will be assisting our team in all areas of the kitchen, learning new skills, cooking, ordering, cleaning and organisation of the kitchen to become a professional chef.

Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard

A commis chef is the most common starting position in many kitchens and in principal the most junior culinary role. A commis chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef. The primary objective of the commis chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen. Therefore having the opportunity to experience, consider and value each section with a view to choosing an area where they feel most inspired. The learning journey of any chef will vary considerably from one individual to the next; however it is necessary to understand and have experience in the basics that this role provides in order to progress to any future senior chef role.

Functional Skills in English and maths

If you have not achieved these subjects at level one or GCSE A-C 9-4 within the last five years, we will do them with you.

Future Prospects

It is our number one goal to train young ambitious chefs and help to push them as far as they desire to go within our ever growing business. There is unlimited possibility for them to take on more responsibility in the kitchen with a higher position and career progression.
