37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.30pm on site working time. This doesn’t include travel to site time or if we need to collect machines/materials at the end or start of the day. Overtime is often available on Saturdays. 2 x ½ breaks mid morning and lunch.

Job Description

The role will include all types of soft and hard landscaping and mainly be working on domestic projects in Harpenden and St Albans with some work a little further afield.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Carrying out most aspects of soft and hard landscaping mostly in St Albans and Harpenden and the surrounding areas to include:

  • Reporting to Landscape Foreman on time in correct safety wear/clothing
  • Learning how to read plans and scale drawings
  • Keeping the workplace tidy and understanding risk assessments and health and safety
  • Setting up datum levels/finish heights with a laser level
  • Excavation of sites and preparation for paving

    Installing all different types of:
  • Paving and resin bound gravel
  • Decking
  • Fencing and fence painting
  • Pergola construction
  • Preparation of areas for seed, turf and planting
  • Tree Planting

    You may also carry out grounds/garden maintenance including mowing, strimming, planting and weeding along with assisting in the maintenance of the tools and equipment.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprentice will gain a level 2 horticulture apprenticeship and receive full training from KEITS and Landdesigns.

Landesigns clothing provided along with Safety Boots and all PPE Holiday Pay 28 days including Bank Holiday Starting salary is £5/hr but could consider £6+/hr for an experienced candidate Company pension scheme at the relevant stages KEITS reserves the right to close this vacancy early if the need arises The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship
