A new opportunity has arisen within our Distribution Testing department for a Laboratory Technician Apprentice who wants to develop their skills within a well-established and successful team. The department focusses on package testing solutions to help reduce shipment damage, troubleshoot packaging and supply chain issues, identify cost reduction opportunities, meet sustainability requirements and more.

In the Lab Technician role, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out multiple routine physical test programmes and providing high quality data on time
  • Inspection of products for damage
  • Extensive use of Excel and Word to generate test documentation
  • Contributing towards the efficient organisation of equipment and resources

Future Prospects

  • As a growing company there may be natural progression for the right candidate on to Senior Test Technician, Project Manager roles

Skills Required

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be computer literate - particularly in Excel and Word

Qualities Required

  • Ideally have an aptitude towards science and testing
  • Enjoy a mixture of desk and laboratory based work

Qualifications Required

  • Maths and English GCSEs (or equivalent) A*-B/9-6 grades
  • Ideally have a minimum of A-level/BTEC from a scientific/engineering subject
  •  A-levels in maths or Physics would be advantageous

Training Provided

During your Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship you will receive extensive on the job training. In addition to this you will complete the following units during the off the job training with Kingston College; 

  • Science Fundamentals
  • Microbiology
  • Understand Regulatory Environment
  • Product Testing Techniques
  • Control of Hazards in the Laboratory
  • Laboratory Techniques
  • Quality Procedures
  • Data Protection
  • Analysis, interpretation and evaluation of data
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
