Job Description

Arch are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and talented junior PHP developer to join their team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining functionality for systems used by millions of users worldwide as well as smaller projects for a range of local and national clients.


Main responsibilities: 

  • Problem solving
  • Object orientated PHP application development
  • Reporting to the lead developer on a regular basis
  • Ownership of key tasks and projects
  • Maintaining existing code
  • Managing your time effectively

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education. 
To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years. 

Skills Required

  • Good communicator with the ability to articulate yourself to internal and external customers (other staff, team members and clients)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • JavaScript
  • Linux OS server environment

Essential skills: 

  • Aptitude with one or more of the following languages; Python, PHP or MySQL
  • An understanding of relationship databases
  • Ability to demonstrate skills from past examples of work

Qualifications Required

GCSE's or A-Levels or a BTEC or equivalents in a relevant discipline (IT, Computing, Computer Science, Software Development etc.) 

Training Provided

Level 3 Software Development Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • BCS Certificate in Software Development Context and Methodologies
  • BCS Certificate in Programming
