Creating the cars of tomorrow is a challenge around 40,000 passionate Jaguar Land Rover colleagues take on every day. The way cars are created and driven is changing. And we are leading that change. Our vision is for a cleaner, smarter, more connected world where autonomous, connected, electrified and shared vehicles will replace the environmentally impactful world of the internal combustion engine. Throughout our history we have always taken on the challenges of creating the most prestigious, sustainable and desirable cars.

Working in one of the largest functions within our business you’ll have a key role in delivering our current product range of vehicles to the highest standards to meet our customers’ expectations.

Operating in world-class manufacturing facilities such as press, body and paint shops; and vehicle assembly areas, you’ll be responsible for maintaining automated and advanced technologies, in either mechatronic maintenance or toolmaking roles. You’ll provide support to maximise production efficiencies and maintain plant equipment to ensure the smooth running of our state-of-the-art production facilities.

Join the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme, and you’ll have opportunities to make your mark in routes such as:

TOOLMAKER, TOOL AND DIE MAINTENANCE

Responsible for producing high quality body components to high efficiency levels, we take initial body designs, assess the suitability for production and then oversee the manufacture for press tooling and plant for delivery, into internal and external press shops. The equipment is sourced across the globe and this process is undertaken by a team of engineers with world-class skills and knowledge across all stamping technologies.

As an Advanced Apprentice you will undertake structured training in order to complete maintenance and improvement tasks to increase the quality and performance levels of the tooling, plant and products we make. You’ll work with cutting edge equipment and be constantly challenged in a fast- paced production environment.

MAINTENANCE

In this area you’ll become a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician working on a range of facilities with a high level of automation and robotics. You’ll be responsible for maintaining equipment to support the manufacture of our vehicles.

In addition, you’ll use your problem-solving skills to carry out proactive preventative and predictive maintenance; as well as diagnose and fix faults on complex machinery and equipment, to ensure our manufacturing operation runs smoothly.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You’ll undertake a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship under standards approved by the IfA (Institute for Apprenticeships). This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role. This is all achieved whilst developing your knowledge, skills and business behaviours such as teamworking and problem-solving. A network of Industrial Training Managers and line managers will regularly review your progress and provide support, advice and guidance along the way, to enable you to perform at your best.

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You will need Maths GCSE and English Language GCSE C Grade/level 4 or higher.

In addition, you’ll need three further GCSEs including Science, Engineering, Technology or additional Maths subject at C Grade/level 4 or above, or as an alternative, Engineering Vocational qualification level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH).

REWARD AND BENEFITS

Your innovation and creativity will be challenged every day, as you develop a rigorous and commercially focused approach in your work. And, with on-going support from industry leading experts and continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes have been designed to be as inspiring as the pioneering vehicles you’ll help produce.

Whichever part of the business you join your hard work and contribution deserves recognition. You’ll receive a competitive salary and upon successful completion of the scheme you will also have achieved a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Manufacturing and Engineering. We will also pay for your tuition and course fees, give you a generous holiday allowance as part of your package, and you will be able to access a range of deals and discounts from various retailers and sports clubs.

And there are regular social events so plenty of chances to make friends and have fun too.
