IT Support Apprentice - 19226
This role requires you to work across the entire software development and usage lifecycle.
Main role/responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Software support and testing:
- Receive customer support calls (and e-mails), understand their problem, and resolve it for them
- Design and develop program enhancements to resolve future issues
- Accompany the customer implementation team to customer sites, understand their requirements and develop high quality customer specification documents
- Develop and implement changes to existing code based on the specification and brief
- Develop new code to operate with the existing code and functions
- Develop completely new functionality based on specification and brief
The apprentice will be considered as a real team member and they will be able to make a real impact in the company in terms of support and customer satisfaction.
After completing the apprenticeship, the apprentice will be offered a permanent position, if we are the right fit for each other.

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.
To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
- A recent degree in a STEM subject (Computer Science, Information Technology, maths, Physics, etc.)
- The ability to write code in ONE OO programming language (Java, C#, C++ etc.)
- SQL knowledge and a good understanding of databases in general
- Customer service skills
- Sense of initiative
- Keen attention for detail
- Enjoy speaking on the phone
- Team player
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) total
- English and maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade D/3 or above
- 3x GCSEs (or equivalent), grade A*-C/9-4 in any subject
Infrastructure technician level 3 standard
Approximately 11% of training takes place in the QA learning centre classroom. 9% is done in the workplace, through online training, face-to-face meetings with your QA Technical Skills Coach, or developing your portfolio. The remaining time will be spent on your workplace activity.
