What will the apprentice be doing?
Mayfield School pride themselves with the warm and diverse environment that they offer to their students and staff. As an Information Communications Technician apprentice, you will work alongside the IT Team to ensure that IT support is available throughout the school as directed by the Network Manager.
This will include:
- Ensuring that all curriculum/admin needs are met, including replenishing paper in the communal photocopiers through the school
- Be responsible for checking all IT rooms on a daily basis, and report any faults to the Network Manager
- You will be expected to manage the help desk requirements
- To maintain full inventory and maintenance record of all hardware/software within the school
- You may be involved in some smaller scale IT projects
- There will be fortnightly meetings with your line manager to provide progress reports
- Any other reasonable roles within the IT as directed by the line manager
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Over 18 months, you will devote 20% of your time to working towards a Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship. You will be trained by an expert tutor from TIRO, who will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you will need to succeed in your apprenticeship. In the workplace, you will have a mentor who will support and guide you in your work-based learning.
Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you will get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Successfully completing the Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship at Mayfield School, will give you with a wealth of knowledge, that may at a later stage in your career, help you to find corporate roles in other large organisations.
