Job Description

What will the apprentice be doing?

Support with the administration of the Council’s insurance policies and insurance schemes, including a tenant's contents insurance scheme, and provide insurance advice to customers.

Ensure data is up to date to support the tender process for the external insurance cover and broker’s contracts and assist with the performance monitoring of service providers.

Carry out insurance related tasks such as create, update and maintain systems, files and records and liaising with brokers.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

We are currently adopting the hybrid method of working, meaning you will split your time between the office and working from home. The apprentice will also work towards gaining a Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

You will also work with members of the public and suppliers such as brokers, school business managers and insurers, therefore customer service skills are essential. You will gain competency on Microsoft Office, JCAD LACHS, Oracle and Excel.

We work with a training provider who will give you one to one support, throughout your apprenticeship journey.  

All training is on site or online, with one day a week for study.

We have soft skills training courses and encourage learning throughout your apprenticeship. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Qualification: Insurance Practitioner Level 3

You will gain hands-on experience of working in an Insurance environment within Local Government, by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of a quality service within the council.

This apprenticeship role is a gateway to further career opportunities, within the Insurance and finance industry.
