As an Underwriting Services Apprentice, you will:

  • Assist in supporting underwriting activity impacted by Brexit including underwriting referrals to other Zurich European offices to enable us to provide compliant insurance coverage for property and casualty insurance programmes
  • You’ll also be supporting with drafting policy schedules and documentation
  • You will experience the whole end-to-end underwriting process including risk selection and assessment, pricing, structuring compliant programmes, policy coverage and the potential impacts that Brexit will have on these elements
  • You’ll need to interact on a daily basis with underwriters, brokers and customers which may include attending external meetings

  • To be prepared to study towards the ‘Insurance Practitioner’ level 3 qualification.

Future Prospects

An annual performance related bonus.

The apprentice is recruited on a permanent contract basis, ensuring subject to normal probation period and successful completion of the apprenticeship they will remain employed within our Underwriting Services team.   

Reality Check

Role involves travel 15 % of the time

London location allowance + excellent benefits

Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including Maths and English
  • Maths A or AS level an advantage but not essential
  • Government and Politics A or AS level an advantage but not essential
  • Knowledge of Spanish an advantage but not essential

Training Provided

  • Fully supported apprenticeship under the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner Standard, to achieve the Chartered Insurance Certificate (Cert CII)
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
