Job Description

Mill Water School are looking for an ICT Technician Apprentice to join their school in January 2021. The ideal candidate must have a passion for ICT, be a logical thinker and be able to use initiative. Must have empathy and understanding to work with children within a school environment.


We are looking for someone capable, enthusiastic and eager to learn, who wishes to pursue an Apprenticeship qualification within an ICT Technician role. The successful candidate will provide effective ICT support to school staff and students both in and out of the classroom, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner. You will carry out a broad range of tasks and will need to have a positive and flexible approach to your work.

  • Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting
  • Dealing with telephone calls and email enquiries efficiently in a polite and professional manner
  • Support staff, pupils, parents, visiting professionals and governors in their use of ICT
  • Assisting in the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of hardware and software faults
  • To assist with security marking, recording of all new hardware, updating the school’s inventory / asset register
  • To help with the installation of computers, laptops, iPads, peripherals and software
  • To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT and AV equipment around the school as and when required
  • Become familiar with the software, cloud platforms, hardware and other technologies used within the school and provide user support
  • Cleaning of technical equipment where it is necessary for the equipment's safe operation
  • Ensure good cable management to provide safe working spaces
  • Remove paper jams from printers and copiers and proactively replace toners as required
  • Produce resource materials to support the use of ICT equipment in effective learning
  • Provide technical support for school assemblies, meetings and events
  • Work under the direction of the ICT Network Manager

30 hours per week term time only (39 weeks per annum)

Qualifications Required

maths and English grade 4 or above or equivalent.

Training Provided

Once weekly sessions at Exeter College. Support by an assessor via reviews and visits to the workplace.
