Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

ICT Enabling Services have a vacancy for a Device Support Apprentice to join our busy team. Under the supervision, guidance and support of experienced technicians your duties will include diagnosing, supporting and rectifying all ICT related issues utilising a range of ICT Technologies via our call logging system. You'll need a customer focused, enthusiastic, self-motivated attitude with an eagerness to learn as you will be providing technical support to non-technical colleagues.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You'll be joining a successful scheme, where over the last seven years we have supported 14 apprentices who are valued members of the team and have grown into confident IT technicians, encouraging them to gain professional qualifications, whilst always providing them with full support. We'll ensure you receive on the job training and you'll attend college on a one day per week basis to gain the understanding and knowledge required for this Infrastructure Technician (level 3) apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Completion of this apprenticeship will enable you to apply for a further IT position within the Council, and potentially proceed to further qualifications too, subject to performance and the availability of a further role. We provide substantial support to all our apprentices to ensure those who complete also stay with the Council after their apprenticeship, or if necessary, are helped to find employment elsewhere.

Reality Check

Due to Covid-19 precautions, the majority of our staff are working remotely and it is highly likely that you will start this apprenticeship in the same manner. All the equipment you need will be provided to work safely and collaboratively, but please appreciate before applying that this will be a reality for the foreseeable future.
