An exciting and rewarding role as a Level 5 HR Management Apprentice. Working in a small team of HR professionals, you will be the first point of contact for the 220 employees across all areas of human resources whilst working towards your professional qualification on a day release basis.


Working under direct supervision of the HR Director and Coordinator you will be fully supported to develop your HR Management skills to manage the following responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities

  • Screening telephone calls and answering queries
  • Assisting the HR Coordinator with the production of employee contracts and offer letters, visa, tenancy, mortgage and leaver letters
  • Implementing employment changes including transfers, promotions, salary reviews and contractual changes in line with Company policy
  • Calculating annual leave entitlement for new starters and at beginning of new leave period
  • Assisting in payroll preparation by providing relevant data
  • Assisting with benefits and pensions administration under the Company’s corporate scheme
  • Providing additional administrative support to the HR and Wellbeing Coordinator for other HR procedures as required
  • Working on ad hoc HR activities as required

Internal HR Support

  • Handling HR related queries and employee issues
  • Ensuring the HRIS (Cascade) is populated for each employee and that records are kept up to date
  • Updating and maintaining Company ‘Health & Safety eSolutions’ system
  • Conducting exit interviews under the guidance of the HR Coordinator
  • Calculating annual leave entitlements and/or amount of pay in lieu due for leavers

New Starters

  • Co-ordinating the company onboarding process, creating and issuing new starter packs, issuing security passes and assist and confirming first day arrangements with the relevant team secretary and line manager
  • Collecting relevant documentation for all new starters, ensuring that all references and work permit checks are completed, employee files maintained, and employee details passed to Finance/ outsourced payroll provider

Learning and Development

  • Co-ordinating internal and external training courses
  • Co-ordinating the weekly continuing professional development (CPD) schedule


  • Co-ordinating the Company’s early careers recruitment process with guidance from the HR Coordinator
  • Ensuring the Company holds valid terms and conditions from recruitment agencies
  • Managing and posting jobs on LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Pre-screening potential candidates prior to interview invitation
  • Providing feedback to candidates where applicable

Diversity and Inclusion

  • Facilitating Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Forum
  • Facilitating D&I research and surveys as directed by HRD

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A*-C/9-5 including maths and English.

Training Provided

You will attend Kingston College for your 20% off site learning and be work based for the remaining 80% work based learning. You will develop your skills, knowledge and experience to manage the responsibilities within this role. Your on the job learning will include fantastic new skills underpinned by theoretical knowledge. You will also undertake in house soft skills training such as presentation skills, time management and management skills.
