Applaud Coffee has two locations and you will work across both sites.
For this position you will receive extensive training acquiring the knowledge and skills to be a speciality coffee barista, to work Front of House delivering exceptional customer service and to be a highly competent Kitchen Assistant.
FOH & Barista tasks include:
- Greeting and serving customers
- Preparing drinks to a consistently high standard
- Keeping displays fully stocked
Kitchen Assistant tasks include:
- Food preparation
- Making breakfasts and lunches
- General coffee shop duties such as clearing tables, cleaning and washing up
We are a workplace that is committed to the development of our staff. Our previous apprentice now works full time with us as a Barista and Supervisor.
This is a physically demanding role and involves long days on your feet.

Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Ideally applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and maths at grades 9/A*- 4/C for a Level 3 Apprenticeship and 9/A*-3/D for a Level 2. Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: All applicants regardless of entry requirements will be emailed an Initial Assessment to complete as part of the recruitment procedure. This is an online assessment in English and maths and can be completed at your preferred location remotely. Currently, due to COVID19 we are not offering Initial Assessment appointments at either campus. Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, will be offered further advice and guidance to support their application if required.
Apprentices will require a strong work ethic, good communication skills and to be prepared to work irregular hours as required in the industry.
They will learn to recognise customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team to ensure every customer, whether they are eating in a restaurant, drinking cocktails in a bar feels welcomed and looked after.
Job roles in Hospitality could include front of house, waiter, bar tender or mixologist.
The apprentice will complete an End Point Assessment to demonstrate that they can perform knowledge, skills and behaviours in their occupation.
