The position(s) are for an apprentice gardener and landscaper. The role will involve moving between two teams working on a range of projects from:
We will do our best to ensure that the role is varied, our client base ranges from retainers at large formal gardens to installing patios, lawns and driveways, as well as hedge cutting, mowing and everything in between. We are also currently developing a cut flower and plant element to our business so an interest in propagation and garden pest control would be useful.
We are looking for candidates that want to learn and progress as our business develops, we hope that after the apprenticeship is completed that candidates will join our team as a full time member of staff and beyond this progress into specialising in their chosen area of interest within the business.
The vacancy is based permanently outdoors, in the summer this means that candidates have to be sensible about conditions, we supply a uniform and sunscreen but we rely on our staff to consider the conditions and ensure that they wear sunhats and drink sufficient water etc to be able to do their job effectively. Likewise in the winter we supply wet weather gear and only stop when the weather makes it unsafe to work, so candidates must be prepared to work in cold and wet conditions
Ability to display some knowledge of plants and the gardening industry would be useful, but beyond that full training will be given.
We are looking for candidates who are hard working, punctual, and keen to learn, although we won't allow anyone to drive the company vehicles under 25, a driving licence (to visit sites) and ability to get to our base on a daily basis is a must.
