Job Description

Throughout the 22 - month programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional knowledge and experience, you’ll also gain Emergency First Aid at Work and the Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1).

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Cricket pitch preparation and maintenance; mowing, scarifying, rolling, marking and autumn renovation
Undertake routine grounds maintenance work on playing surfaces as detailed in work schedules and or directed by Senior Management.
The creation, marking out and setting up of playing surfaces. Look after the surrounding areas and carry out our general duties
Goal post erection/dismantling, maintenance and storage
Setting up for matches and clearing afterwards
Line marking; initial setting out and marking and weekly over-marking
Leaf clearing, litter picking and debris clearance
Snow clearing and salt spreading
Roping off and preparing for events
Ensure irrigation and drainage systems are maintained
The safe operation of equipment and machinery used in grounds maintenance such as hedge cutters, strimmers and ride-on mowers
Inform the supervisor of any mechanical defects or breakdown of equipment
Maintain good communication with customers and end-users.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

During this Level 2 Amenity Horticulture programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as in your future career. Throughout the 22 - month programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional knowledge and experience, you’ll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as emergency First Aid at Work and the Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1).
