What will the apprentice be doing?

There is a lot involved in keeping HGVs on the road, so you will gain a full understanding of the importance of 6-week checks, Operators (O) licence’s and legal obligations and as a Technician apprentice, you will receive training to the manufacturer and DVSAs standard The Heavy Vehicle Technician’s job falls into three main categories: • Servicing – regular preventive checks • Maintenance – replacing any parts showing signs of wear and tear • Repairs – repair or replacing anything damaged or faulty

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This is a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard, delivered by Remit Group. Awarding Body: Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at Remit’s dedicated Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby. There are a total of 17 blocks over the 34 month programme, which are split between 2 days of virtual classes and 3 days in Derby. The costs for accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you. You will also be assigned a dedicated Development Coach who will give you 1-2-1 support and guidance to help you achieve the following IMI qualifications: As a result, you will receive the following qualification: • Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 • Functional Skills in English & Maths Level 2 (if required)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

By the end of your 3-year training you will be to: Undertake maintenance , service and repair activities on light vehicles to the highest standards as a qualified Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician
