What will the apprentice be doing?
You will contribute to providing a high-quality service for decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing of sterile equipment for hospital and community settings. Responsibilities include effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, instruments and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards. To also rigorously check, wash, lay-up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards the Healthcare Science Assistant Level 2 Standard. This will be delivered in your workplace by an occupationally competent Trainer. On programme delivery will consist of blended learning along with structured teaching and learning sessions to develop the required modules within the Healthcare Science Standard.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completing your L2 Healthcare Science Standard you will progress to a Sterile Service Technician advancing to our Technician career pathway.
