Responsibilities

PETA Ltd are proud to be working with Kelvion Limited to recruit a Health and Safety Administrator Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and develop practical experience, drawing on knowledge acquired through vocational study and on the job training. The apprentice will act positively and constructively, bringing energy and focus to this important area of work and be willing to deliver good customer service.

The Health and Safety Administrator Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assisting the management team in ensuring that the legal and company HSE requirements are implemented
  • Assisting the management team in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System by updating systems in line with changes in legislation or best practice, delivering training, coaching operational teams, and undertaking workplace inspections
  • Providing advice on the practical implementation of the company’s SHE policies and processes applying generic industry guidance into the context of the workplace
  • Preparing and maintaining records relating to Health, Safety and Environmental matters that comply with legal and workplace requirements and are accessible to those who are authorised to use them
  • Assisting the management team in establishing, managing, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Occupational Health, Occupational Hygienists and others as required and directed
  • Supporting HSE Department in the completion of investigations into accidents and incidents, reportable under the Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013
  • Undertaking a supporting role with in-house health and safety training delivery, including assisting in the preparing of briefings materials and training delivery as required

Future Prospects

There is the intention for a full-time permanent position to be offered to the suitable and successful candidate upon completion of the apprenticeship, for example, moving into a Health & Safety Advisor role.

Reality Check

Please note that applicants must be aged 18+ due for insurance purposes. The Health and Safety Administrator Apprentice will be working with machinery and completing shop floor assessments.

Please note the role is advertised at national minimum wage.

Skills Required

It is important that the Apprentice has the following skills and experience:

  • Able to take personal responsibility for maintaining and developing professional knowledge and expertise, with a commitment to a programme of continuing professional learning and development
  • Able to research, prepare and draft concise reports and present information to different audiences
  • Analytical: Draws conclusions that are sensible given the information available
  • Understands graphs and charts
  • Good IT skills; experience of using information technology, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Word to produce reports and management information
  • Good communication including listening, writing, and speaking skills

  • Work well as a cooperative member of Health Safety and Environment Team

Qualifications Required

  • GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English with at least a grade C / 4 are required.

Training Provided

Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 15- month apprenticeship which includes 10 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
