Job Description

Milton Abbas is well known as a marvellous location for hacking and the small livery yard has first class facilities that sits in the centre of some of the best riding in the country. Perfect for any Groom Apprentices to start off their training.


Breaking, pre-training and point-to-point yard.

We are hotting up here now we are in for a very busy year, so we are looking for a rider. A very competent work rider for the racehorses so you would need to be eventing at Intermediate level and used to very young horses etc.

General duties to include:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Milton Abbas is a large outdoor school, lunge arena and, horse walker. They can tailor individual livery packages according to requirements. Fabulous all year turnout in Post and Rail Paddocks. A great opportunity at a friendly stable situated in the picturesque village of Dorset.

Future Prospects

Opportunity for a full-time job or progression to a Level 3 apprenticeship.

Must be keen, hard-working and willing to work outdoors in all weathers.

Qualifications Required

None specified, but must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English.
