Job Description

The Trust seeks to appoint Finance Assistant Apprentices to help us manage the large increase in transactions that the City of Culture project will bring in 2021. The apprenticeship will enable the successful candidates to gain an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification. The Trust will support candidates on a day release basis.


These roles will involve:

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices
  • Ensuring suppliers are paid promptly
  • Account reconciliations
  • Preparation of BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing Services) payment schedules
  • Project accounting
  • Treasury management
  • Reporting spending to budget holders
  • Credit control
  • Sales invoice preparation
  • Petty cash control
  • Accounting for staff expenses and company credit card transactions
  • Ensuring the safeguarding of the Trust’s financial assets, implementing appropriate controls, and ensuring that such controls are robust and adhered to

Qualifications Required

  • Grade 4/C or equivalent in maths and English GCSE

  • You will also work towards your AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting compliment your apprenticeship qualification
