Job Description

Working under the general direction of the Finance Manager to provide administrative and financial support to the MAT. And to act as an integral part of the Finance Team, and as such to make a contribution to the overall aims of the MAT, working within agreed policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, process orders, input invoices and receive goods in school.
  • Cover office reception on an ad hoc basis, dealing with simple telephone and visitor enquiries.  Always undertake duties in such a way as to ensure that the school has a safe and welcoming environment. Be familiar with all the school’s policies concerning the safety of pupils
  • Provide clerical support such as opening post, filing, duplicating and copying
  • An operational role within the central team supporting financial management and reporting service for the trust and its academies
  • A role in the operation of the trust cash management service, undertaking administrative and organisational processes
  • Dealing with purchase and sales ledger queries and checking balances
  • Assist with planning and development of trust support services
  • Assist with preparation for internal and external audit processes
  • Act as an integral part of the trust central team, and as such to make a contribution to the overall aims of the trust, working within agreed policies and procedures
  • Accountable for decision making, short term planning and dealing with unexpected problems within the trust office
  • Responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the trust
  • Work effectively and in co-operation with all other staff in the trust, using own knowledge and skills to contribute positively to the overall welfare of the trust and its academies, pupils, staff and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the planning, development and organisation of support service systems, procedures and policies
  • Undertake typing and word-processing and complex IT based tasks including routine problem solving
  • Complete and submit forms and returns, including those to outside agencies
  • When required provide cover for schools based finance staff
  • Always undertake duties in such a way as to ensure that the trust has a safe and welcoming environment
  • Be familiar with all the trust’s policies concerning the safety of pupils and stakeholders
  • Manage manual and computerised records/information systems
  • Analyse and evaluate data/information and produce reports as required
  • Accountable for decision making, short term planning and dealing with unexpected problems within the trust office
  • Assist with payroll queries and liaise with Finance Manager on more complex issues.
  • Produce BACS payment run when required
  • Provide administrative and organisational support to other staff
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff, pupils and others
  • Manage personal and professional development seeking opportunities to develop skills and understanding to improve performance

Potential progession to AAT L3/ L4 for right candidate

Whilst based at a school this role is not a school based job, it is working for the central team in a very professional environment.
