Job Description

Do you want to start your career in Engineering? If so, UK Carbon & Graphite Ltd based in Rotherham have a fantastic opportunity for someone that's willing to work hard and learn new skills. Reporting to the Supervisor, your daily tasks will include setting up and operating CNC machines, operation of lathes and helping in the warehouse.

Responsibilities

Embark and complete an Engineering Apprenticeship whilst gaining a detailed knowledge and understanding of the varied manufacturing operations across the UKCG business.

Reporting to the Supervisor, duties will include:

  • You will learn to operate and set up all our machines, its physically demanding, quite a lot of manual work involved as the parts we make are large
  • Helping in the warehouse, unpacking/packing product, loading/unloading shipping containers & trucks including FLT work in the longer term
  • Production of quality graphite electrodes and parts using CNC & manual lathes and other machinery
  • Correct and safe use of all equipment
  • Effective and efficient use of a barcode system
  • Undertake training and continuous development to become proficient in all UKCG machinery and quality processes
  • Continually ensure that all Health & Safety standards/requirements are met i.e. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn, working area is neat and tidy
  • Excellent co-operation with designated UKCG mentor
  • Effective completion of any other reasonable duties as instructed by UKCG

Qualifications Required

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades D/3 or above (or equivalent) including maths and English

Training Provided

Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
