Job Description

We are looking for an apprentice who will undertake robust training to construct building frameworks, making and installing fixtures like doors, stairs and window frames and cutting and shaping floorboards and roof timbers.


Our apprentices are an integral part of the workforce.

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Making and installing fixtures like doors, stairs and window frames
  • Cutting and shaping floorboards and roof timbers

They will be working as part of the manufacturing team being responsible for the assembly and installation of manufactured components to agreed design specification and tolerance.

This includes:

  • The safe handling, moving, installing and finishing to specification and within deadlines under the guidance of senior team colleagues and managers

They will interact with team colleagues and supervisors in the factory, as well as those from other departments, such as architects, plant operators, Health and Safety, site managers, construction managers and other trades.  

Future Prospects

  • On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you may become a permanent member of the workforce
  • There are then opportunities for advancement to section leader, specific trade operative eg Carpenter

Reality Check

  • You will be working in a large team for 8 hours a day + 1 hour unpaid lunch
  • From time to time overtime may be required if a project has an urgent completion date. This may mean working weekends
  • The factory is in a remote place and therefore own transport is required (or car sharing)

  • Level 1/ Grade 3/D in maths and English, equivalent or above

Training Provided

Construction Assembly and Installation Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • This Apprenticeship is delivered through the workplace including an initial 12 weeks training programme in the business classroom/workshop
  • Tutors will visit the workspace to deliver training in person and also connect via remote learning/tutorials etc
  • Maths and English skills will be developed as necessary for individuals either in the workplace or college attendance as appropriate
  • To complete you will be required to sit an end point assessment
