Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Housing Services team as an Estates Services Apprentice. If you are someone who enjoys being in the outdoors, would like to maintain and improve the local environment and contribute to building safety, this role should interest you.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To work within the Estates Services team, which forms part of the Housing Services department, gaining skills, knowledge and experience of the district’s housing department. To provide support to a number of teams, including partner agencies.
  • To work alongside colleagues in the Estates Services team to provide an efficient and effective local estate management service, including caretaking, visual fire safety inspections, ad-hoc cleaning, general low level maintenance such as grass and hedge cutting, estate improvements and supervision of contractors carrying out work in our buildings.
  • To liaise with partner agencies, such as the Police, and Council colleagues, such as Housing Officers, to ensure the service we provide is to the highest standard possible.
  • To assist colleagues in carrying out visual fire safety inspections to blocks of flats across the Council’s stock and completing / reporting remedial actions as necessary to ensure our housing stock remains well maintained. Ensure health and safety / hazards and fire safety concerns are reported immediately to prevent injury.
  • To listen carefully to residents’ suggestions and concerns, ensuring they are fed back to Management accordingly and helping to address them.
  • To work alongside colleagues to carryout grounds maintenance and improvements works, such as graffiti removal, external painting, grass cutting, leaf blowing, weeding, hedge cutting, strimming, installing locks in external areas and erecting public signage.
