Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for a level 3 senior equine groom apprentice to join the team at the renowned Catherston Stud and Livery in Hampshire. This is the home of British Olympian Jennie Loriston-Clarke MBE FBHS, and base of International Dressage Riders Lizzie Murray and Charlotte Dicker.

Responsibilities

Indoor & Outdoor Arenas, Horsewalker, Lunge pen, Solarium, Individual turnout fields, etc.
5* Livery.Training - Schooling for horses, lessons for horses and riders, bespoke short courses available for horse and rider. Dressage Coaches all UKCC Level 3 Qualified.

Some of the general duties will include:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid

Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
This is a non-riding position focusing on a variety of general duties across the yard and learning from some of the very best.

Skills Required

All apprentices must have previous equine experience as the yard has big, fit competition horses and stallions.

Qualifications Required

 GCSE's equivuivalent grade C/4 above or Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English.
