As an Environmental Consultant Apprentice, you’ll be training for your Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship. Your role will include:

  • Attending various high-profile construction and demolition sites for major infrastructure, retail, and commercial, industrial, and renewable project.
  • Maintain records of the sites and equipment, conduct data management and report writing, in addition to servicing and maintenance of the equipment and equipment rooms.
  • Downloading data from remote monitors, data processing and analysis
  • Installation, maintenance, servicing and decommissioning of monitoring equipment
  • Maintenance of equipment record

Over 21 months, you’ll devote 20% of your working time towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Southdowns Environmental Consultant, who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your career. Future Prospects

  • Following successful completion of initial in-house training, professional development support and mentoring will be provided with the prospects of subsequent development as a service engineer within our Equipment and Data Management Team

Reality Check

  • The role will be split between London and the Midlands, home-based for the time being with weekly site visits proposed

Skills Required

  • Good IT skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Excel.
  • Good problem-solving and practical skills
  • Ability to work outdoors throughout the year
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Interest in technology and how things work

  • The ability to show an interest in construction, science, or laboratory testing

Qualifications Required

  • Ideally English, maths and science GCSE A*-C / 9-4 grade or equivalent (however lower grades will be considered, so don’t be put off)
  • Driving licence essential for on-site testing

  • Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
