What will the apprentice be doing?
Joining the Pressco’s team as an Engineering Technician Apprentice, your role will be focused on the manufacturing processes on site. As part of your programme, you will learn how to:
- How to check materials to ensure they are correct
- Select and inspect injection moulding tools
- Set and operate plastic mould injection machine presses
- Remove and mount mould tools
- Set tools and moulding parameters to ensure that parts are produced to specification
- Ensure the reliability of production processes
- You will eventually be identifying areas for improvement
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be paid and day released to PETA’s Havant engineering skills centre for off-the-job training.
Your Level 3 programme will include, a level 3 BTEC technical certificate and workbased qualification delivered by PETA. You will be completing the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Overall duration is 48 months.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
As an Engineering Technician Apprentice, this programme forms part of Pressco's succession planning for the future. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process. Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is hope for a full time position to be offered to the right candidate.
