Job Description

PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Engineering Fitter Apprentice for our client, SES Controls Ltd. You will be learning how to produce high value, low volume components and assemblies using machines and equipment. You will be working in electrical, electronic control systems and instrumentation environment.

Responsibilities

You will be learning how to interpret drawings, plan work, making sure you have the right tools/equipment and checking your work against quality standards.

  • This role will involve generally travelling in the South of England and the possibility of trips to the Channel Islands when required
  • Learn how to plan work activities, including sourcing resources, equipment and tooling
  • As an engineering fitter apprentice, you will become competent interpreting and following drawings/diagrams and/or specifications required for the assembly activity
  • Learn how to prepare the work area for component/assembly task; sourcing required resources, tools/equipment
  • As an engineering fitter apprentice, you will become competent producing complex high value, low volume assemblies
  • Learn how to assemble components to produce equipment, machines and systems
  • As a engineering fitter apprentice you will become competent producing and/or re-furbishing components
  • Learn how to source the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task
  • As an engineering fitter apprentice you will become competent checking your work against quality standards and make adjustments
  • Learn how to hand over products and prepare the work area for the next task
  • With experience you will also be able to identify and resolve problems using proven fault diagnostic methods
  • When competent you will be responsible for the completion of your work to the required specification and deadlines, in line with quality requirements and other regulations with minimum supervision

Qualifications Required

  • 2 GCSE's at grade C/4 or above (or equivalents) in maths and English are essential

Training Provided

As an engineering fitter apprentice this programme forms part of your companies succession planning for the future. The company will support your personal and professional development. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process

Throughout the duration of the engineering fitter apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training center for off-the-job training.  The engineering fitter programme will start as 12 months of day release when you will complete your foundation skills training.

You will then pass through the foundation Gateway to complete your skills development training in years 2 - 4 with your employer. Your Level 3 development programme will include:

Level 3 Advanced Engineering (Development Competence) delivered in the workplace by your PETA Job Coach, and day release for 24 months to complete a Level 3 Btec technical certificate.
