Engineering Apprentices work within an efficiently organised team of skilled engineering personnel. The purpose of the role is to allow you to develop and learn the engineering skills required to drive Britvic forward into the future and to ensure manufacturing has the right resources to support and enhance the overall performance of the site.


Duties will include:

  • Attend Appris Training Centre full time in year 1, complete all learning requirements to develop both hands-on skills and basic engineering underpinning knowledge
  • For the following years, attend college on a day release basis to complete the necessary educational requirements for the programme
  • Complete a variety of engineering practical tasks and jobs to support attainment of the educational standards
  • Work with and support Technicians to complete intrusive, planned & preventative maintenance schedules (PM’s)
  • Support Technicians with breakdown maintenance across all production lines
  • Timely completion of information within the computer-based maintenance programme (52-week plans)
  • Drive personal development on the programme
  • Learn about the business, soft drinks and manufacturing, drawing down on others experience and knowledge
  • Learn safe practices at work and knowledge of the necessary statutory requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Order relevant equipment, spares and service and work with engineering teams to ensure necessary equipment is available
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, project and site teams
  • Develop in the role to be able to carry out engineering tasks independently and with minimal support from others
  • Take part in all training and development activities as required to ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship

  • Successful applicants can look forward to the possibility of a full-time position and career within one of the largest soft drinks manufacturers as qualified maintenance engineer
  • Further training and job specific development is also a possibility
  • Incremental salary rises will be dependent on performance and outcomes

Qualifications Required

  • 5 GCSE's A* - C / 9 - 4 grade and above or equivalent grades including maths, English and Science

Training Provided

You will study and be mentored in the workplace and at Appris, Bradford to become a fully-skilled Mechatronic Maintenance Technician.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical Competence Units)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Electrical Competence Units)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Electrical Technical Knowledge Units) 

Year Two & Three - Day release, academic term time at Appris Engineering Training Centre:

  • BTCE Level 4 HNC Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering 

Year One to Four - Work Based Learning at Britvic (Training, Support, Mentoring & Assessment)

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician 

You will be also be supported in preparation for your End Point Assessment (EPA) with an independent external body.
