Job Description

To undertake an apprenticeship as an Apprentice Engineering Technician leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation through a structured training program of academic study and site related work-based learning. You will gain the required skills and knowledge to support the requirements of CBRE Global Workplace Solutions.


During your apprenticeship you will:

  • Complete a four-year programme of training to be conducted within the assigned Business Unit’s engineering team at client locations, supplemented with academic study
  • Attendance at technical college for 42 weeks block release in year one
  • Work towards achieving Level 3 Advance Manufacturing Apprenticeship
  • To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects and documenting work that has been undertaken and the skills learned

During your apprenticeship you will develop the necessary skills to:

  • Learning and understanding the importance of Health and Safety within the workplace
  • To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of hand tools and associated workshop machine tools
  • Learn to understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • To develop the skills to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance from written and verbal instructions and drawings within an assigned trade
  • To be able to demonstrate skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team
  • To undertake tasks as instructed, increasing overall contribution to the business unit
  • To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and client locations
  • To maintain a smart appearance and to act in a professional manner always in line with CBRE RISE values

Future Prospects

For apprentices who work hard and show commitment to their studies and the organisation, the option to progress on to level 4 Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or other career suitable training will be available.

Salary and progression. Providing your work both at college and the workplace is of a high standard and you are on schedule to complete in a timely manner your salary will increase annually;

  • First year - £15,302
  • Second year - £17,664
  • Third year - £22,388
  • Fourth year - £27,112

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths, English and a science.

Training Provided

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

First year:

  • Block release to college to complete Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Second and Third year:

  • Day release to college - as well as mentoring and rotation in the workplace to complete Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Fourth year:

  • Preparation for End Point Assessment and preparation for progression to Level 4 Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or career specific qualifications
