We are looking for an Engineering Apprentice to join the site Production Engineering Team, eventually becoming a fully-fledged Multi-skilled Technician. You will contribute to achieving the goals of the factory by efficiently carrying out assigned tasks, applying and using your acquired engineering skills to the highest level.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Complete stores requisitions for parts required 
Carry out risk assessments on plant
Continually monitor plant conditions and report/repair defects under supervision
Ensure that engineering work is completed to a high standard and that safety procedures are followed at all times
Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) by maintaining a tidy site appearance in line with Food Industry best practice
Overhaul and repair plant under supervision during and after production

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The key feature of this opportunity is being able to study for a Level 3 Engineering Technician – Pathway 10 Mechatronics Apprenticeship.  The first year will be based at City College Plymouth, Kings Road, Plymouth with some weeks based at the factory applying new skills.  The remainder of the programme will be on a day release basis.

 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It is envisaged that the successful applicant could carry on to a role as a multi-skilled technician on shift with us depending on how successful they are.

Reality Check

This is a busy working environment where using a wide range of skills is essential. The role is based in a factory where hygiene and food standards are of paramount importance. Must be able to work within a small team.
