Job Description

We’re re-inventing the business. Re-configuring it. Re-imagining it. Transforming what was once a traditional engineering company into a digital-first, industrial technology leader, with a clear purpose: to create sustainable solutions that meet the planet's vital power needs.

Responsibilities

This is your chance to launch a career with Rolls-Royce at the start of a whole new era in our history.

It's a fundamental shift that will prepare us for the incredible opportunities ahead. And it's already well underway. The technology is here. We have the expertise. The creativity, courage and agility too. Now we need the next generation of talented apprentices to help make it happen.

Join us on our journey and together we’ll do amazing things. Together, we’ll pioneer the power that matters.

What you’ll do:

When you’re building, manufacturing, inspecting or repairing some of the most advanced engines in the world, the margin for error is, quite literally, microscopic. That’s why we invest so much in training our Practical Apprentices, and offer the sort of exciting, real-world exposure you simply can’t get anywhere else.

In your first year, you’ll gain a strong foundation in the practical skills you need – either at our Apprentice Academy in Derby, or with one of our approved training providers. Over the following three years, you’ll broaden and deepen your knowledge through a range of attachments within a defined business, all the while working towards completing your Apprenticeship Standard and gaining relevant engineering qualifications.

This is hands-on work. And whether you’re producing, building or maintaining Rolls-Royce products, or making and maintaining the tools we need to a high standard, you’ll be making a big impact. Throughout your apprenticeship you can expect to train on state-of-the-art products, equipment and machinery. All while being guided and supported by engineering experts.

Future Prospects

With the chance to get practical experience with our engines or products, we offer the sort of exciting, real-world exposure that you simply can’t get anywhere else.

Reality Check

On top of a competitive salary, you can look forward to an excellent range of big-company benefits. But the best reasons to join us are the outstanding career support you'll enjoy from day one, the debt-free qualifications you'll have at the end of it, and the chance to build an amazing career in an environment where you can be yourself and be your best. At Rolls-Royce, you’ll be included, supported, recognised, developed and empowered to succeed.

We recruit, select and develop our people on merit, regardless of age, disability, gender identity or expression, race/colour/nationality/ethnic or national origins, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by applicable legislation.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Skills Required

We’ll want to see creativity, an agile approach and a passion for practical engineering – you’ll need to be keen to get stuck into real work in a factory-based environment. Numeracy is important, and you should be a great team player. You’ll have to learn fast and have the discipline to balance studying for a qualification with the demands of your role.

Qualities Required

Beyond your qualifications, we want to see evidence that you're genuinely interested in developing a career in engineering. For instance, we'd like to hear about how you tinker with cars, bicycles or motorbikes; or about an engineering project you've done at school or work, or a club you've been involved with

Qualifications Required

In terms of qualifications, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), you will need maths at a grade 6/B, English Language at a grade 4/C, a science (excluding GCSE in Biology) at grade 4/C, and 1 other at grade 4/C (obtained or predicted).

Training Provided

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

About the employer

There are many reasons to choose a Rolls-Royce career. The fact that were a global organisation active in 50 countries, and that weve spent the past 100 years building a reputation for technical innovation and excellence, are chief among them. Perhaps of even greater interest, however, is the fact that we expect to double in size over the next decade.
