Job Description

Prima Electronic Services are a Contract Electronics Manufacturer based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire. Specialising in PCB assembly and mechanical build, from initial prototype quantities to high volume production. Prima have been operating for over 30 years and are focussed on being agile while maintaining a high-quality standard.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Run various types of machinery to reach an assembled product such as SMT Pick & Place machines.
  • Hand place components on to the board and solder if necessary.
  • Inspect the product for assembly defects or issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment in use.
  • Learn about various electronics components, package sizes and specifications.
  • Use technical documentation such as assembly drawings and parts lists to produce the product.
  • Work towards and meet customer deadlines.

Engineering fitter Level 3

Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Depending on the outcome of the Apprenticeship. The Apprentice may be able to move on to a full-time role and also progress to further education and training at higher levels.

Reality Check

Apprentice will be working in both a factory environment using different types of machinery. They will often be required to use a computer as well as different tools such as a soldering iron.
