Job Description

Ultra Electronics is a UK group of companies with a broad portfolio of specialist capabilities across the defence, aerospace, security, transport, and energy sectors. They are looking to recruit an Electronic/Electric Engineering Apprentice in Wimborne.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Comprehensive apprenticeship with exposure to all departments within the organisation.
  • Work within and be trained to operate within the manufacturing, mechanical, electrical/electronic departments.
  • Undertake technical activities using a variety of production methods, including specialist PCB assembly and manufacture.
  • Produce detailed reports to demonstrate the knowledge and skills obtained throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Work within a team and have responsibilities across complex projects.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician Level 3

  • In-House Competency Training Plan (Skills).
  • If not already achieved. Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (College 1 day per week over 2 years).
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (if not exempt)
  • End Point Assessment

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

During the final year of the Apprenticeship, and subject to successful completion, permanent Operations and/or Engineering job roles are discussed and offers made where possible. Job offers are dependent upon company performance and availability of work. Successful completion has led to permanent roles. Ultra Electronics, Energy has a 100% completion record for Apprenticeships.

Reality Check

Practical training is included, together with potential to move on to HNC and/or Degree programmes if appropriate. Completion of placements around all areas of the Company as part of a ‘whole business’ progressive scheme is required. Core working hours must be adhered to.
