The post holder will directly support high priority tasks within the Education and Skills directorate. They will direct tasks for a small number of business administration apprentices who are deployed to provide high quality administrative and business support services to teams within Education & Skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Clerk to Area Improvement and Inclusion Governance Board
  • Regular event / training planning and organisation in partnership with E&S team managers
  • Communications including weekly and monthly news updates to school leaders
  • Payment processing (PCards, internal journals and invoicing)
  • Project support as required
  • To direct tasks for and coach a number of business administration apprentices you will be required to closely monitor their work and assist with their training, liaising on a regular basis with their training provider and suggesting opportunities for these apprentices to complete the units required for their qualification

Skills Required

  • Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A desire to help others across the directorate and in schools alongside a genuine enthusiasm for supporting our teams in achieving the best educational outcomes for pupils and young people
  • As our team facilitates and supports others in the work they complete it is important that you have excellent people skills, have a high standard of written English, excellent communication skills and a passion for finding solutions and delivering tasks effectively and efficiently

Key Skills:

  • Confident in the production of spreadsheets, communications such as newsletters, formal letters, and presentations for senior management & schools to use
  • The post holder will be able to work independently, confidently, and flexibly to balance priorities and deadlines both for themselves and for those they direct tasks to
  • Some experience of coaching others would be desirable
  • Some experience of project management would be desirable

Qualities Required

  • High standard of written and spoken English
  • Confident and credible when communicating with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and senior school leaders
  • Ability to advise, problem solve and facilitate
  • A clear, calm approach to coaching and directing others

Qualifications Required

A degree or equivalent qualification that would require a high standard of written English to be demonstrated.

The successful candidate will join the course offered by WSCC’s chosen training provider Qube Learning and will have regular time allocated to complete the course and work closely with their tutor to understand the course requirements, track progress and prepare for the assessment.
