Job Description

To support the day to day running of the setting.


  • Ensuring all aspects of the playgroup routine comply with the rules for safety and
    cleanliness particularly in the light of Covid 19;
  • Assisting in providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities and organising the programme;
  • Assisting with the provision of full care for the children including preparing
  • Helping to set up the playroom and adjacent outdoor area for the daily programme andhelping to tidy away at the end of each session;
  • Assessing, monitoring and recording the progress of individual children’s development including maintaining children’s diaries;
  • Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities’
  • Keeping confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other
    staff which is learned as part of the job;
  • Attending staff meetings as required;
  • Adhering to all policies within the setting, particularly those relating to
  • Attending training courses, for example, First Aid, Safeguarding

Future Prospects

  • Working in the Playgroup will provide good opportunities to work alongside experienced staff with a wide range of children, some of whom may have additional needs

Reality Check

Must have an Enhanced DBS certificate
Our Playgroup will provide an induction with a clear definition of the work involved and important procedures including Safeguarding, Health and Safety procedures
Normal hours per week are 32.5 usually for 39 weeks a year from 8.30-15.30 Monday-Friday with 30-minute lunch break

Qualifications Required

  • Preferred math's and English at A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent

Training Provided

  • Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Kingshurst Caterpillars Playgroup will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of
    your working day.
  • If successful, you will complete a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship programme, delivered through Kingshurst Caterpillars Playgroup's dedicated training provider, Realise.
