Job Description

Barnardos Bow and Wetherell Nurseries are looking for ambitious, enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about offering babies young children the best possible start in life and who are interested in gaining a Level 3 Ofsted recognised qualification in Early Years Education

Responsibilities

You will learn how to plan and implement inclusive play, promote speech, language and communication development and ensure that everything you do is in line with safeguarding and equality policies and procedures. You will also learn how to use reflective practice to get the most from your own continuous professional development.

Your roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years
  • To ensure that the nursery is a clean, safe environment for children, staff and others
  • To follow the training and guidance to safeguard the children at all times
  • Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development
  • To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times
  • To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress
  • To help ensure we meet Ofsted requirements at all times
  • To understand and work to Barnardo’s nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes
  • To prepare snacks and serve meals
  • To be a key worker alongside the key person
  • To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments, incident forms, daily logs etc.
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement
  • To work in partnership with management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with Barnardo’s aims and objectives

Future Prospects

  • At the end of a successful apprenticeship Barnardo’s will endeavour to find an appropriate role employment within the organisation or as part of our Talent Pool Agency to help find suitable employment.

Qualifications Required

  • 5 x GCSE grades 4/C's or above or equivalent
  • Level 2 in Childcare
