Job Description

The Apprentice will be based in Bristol or Bath (primarily in Bristol). The learners will work from the office 2 days a week once the new office space is confirmed by the employer. You'll work from the office 2 days a week. As a DevOps Apprentice, you will care about designing secure, reliable and scalable software architecture and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

You will have a deep interest and passion in delivering value to customers by automating manual tasks, monitoring systems and environments as well as building tools that make it easier to run and maintain infrastructure and services. 

Main role / Responsibilities [will include but not be limited to]: 

  • Running and managing platforms
  • Building platforms (Design, Architect and build)
  • Core Devops/SRE work (Development + operations of platforms and tooling)
  • Creating IAC
  • Answering customer tickets around platforms

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education. 

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years. 

Skills Required

We are looking for someone who will be a great fit for the team, and would love it if you:

  • Great problem-solving skills, copes with uncertainty and risk
  • A drive to test and tune performance across systems, understanding the interplay between various systems

  • Willingness and desire to succeed and go over and above what is expected

Qualifications Required

Entry requirements: 

  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship, or
  • A Level in a STEM subject (within the technology and maths fields only), or
  • BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test, or,
  • Or equivalents, or

A minimum of 12 months of work experience within an IT role. Specific roles that are acceptable are:

  • IT Support roles e.g. Help Desk, First line 
  • Software Development Roles 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. The learners would still be required to successfully pass the Aptitude Test at first attempt.
