Job Description

DCS are looking for an apprentice setter to join their amazing company to ensure the correct set-up for production and smooth mechanical operation of production and mixing equipment.


We are currently looking to recruit an apprentice to become a qualified Setter to join us on a permanent, full-time basis at our Manufacturing division on site in Redditch.

As a Setter, Your Duties will Include:

  • Ensuring the correct set-up for production and smooth mechanical operation of production and mixing equipment
  • Organising, planning, and maintaining production lines to ensure they are running to the expected production rates, quality and cost
  • Carry out line changeovers in a timely and efficient manner and in line with defined standard operating procedures, investigating and diagnosing any operational problems affecting production
  • Setting up equipment to the relevant standard of production rates and quality, ensuring line productivity is set to optimum fill speed
  • Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment is maintained i.e., tool storage, PPE is issued and used

  • Year 1 = £201.60 per week (£10,483.20 per annum)
  • Year 2 = £246 per week (£12,792 per annum)
  • Year 3 = £313.20 per week (£16,286.40 per annum)
  • Year 4 = £402.80 per week (£20,495.60 per annum)

Qualifications Required

You must hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade 4/C or above, to include maths and English Language Ideally you would have, or are working towards, a Level 3 qualification in a technical discipline i.e., mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent proven experience, although this isn't essential.

Training Provided

This 4 year programme will include:

  • Engineering Basic Skills training off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Apprenticeship Standard
  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
  • In house training in line with your requirements
