Can we count on you to delve into our data? Virgin Media Data Scientists makes sense of huge datasets to come up with creative insights that help us extract maximum value from our assets across the business

At Virgin Media Business Wholesale, our Data Scientists play a leading role in deciphering Big Data across multiple platforms before delivering insight that helps make sure we’re getting the most from our business.

All our schemes are offered on permanent contracts. And, around 90% of apprentices stay on with us – while others will have gathered transferable skills that are sought after elsewhere.

Let’s talk about what you’ll be doing…

This is an exciting time to join our Data Scientist Apprenticeship Scheme. Virgin Media Business Wholesale is part of the wider Virgin Media family who are currently making the largest investment in the UK’s digital infrastructure for over a decade – with a £3bn programme set to bring our ground-breaking network to 17m homes and businesses.

We’re looking for analytics enthusiasts to become part of our Data & Performance Management team, which cover data research, data analysis, delivery and performance. You’ll be championing the application of data to influence our future business decisions and strategy.

Using your technical expertise, you’ll be translating business challenges into analytics – creating propensity and segmentation models to find key insights – that can help solve everyday business problems. You’ll also need to be able to communicate your findings in a way that can be easily interpreted by some who may not be as smart as you!

And, you’ll develop your programming skills in various languages, including R, SQL and Python, to create and manage algorithms and complex optimisations that keep Virgin Media Business Wholesale ahead of the pace.

How are you going to get there?

As a Level 7 Apprentice, you will need to be educated to degree level or above as well as being able to show you can apply advanced analytical and statistical methods in industry.

If you have a passion for making sense of complex data and can work as part of a team to develop imaginative insights, our Data Scientist Apprenticeship Scheme welcomes men and women to kickstart their careers at one of the UK’s most free-thinking and fun-loving companies.

So, what can we do for you?

During the Data Scientist Apprenticeship Scheme, you will have gathered all the experience and exposure to our award-winning business practices that you’ll need to forge a fantastic career in Data Analytics.

With heartfelt guidance from your scheme mentor and other workmates, we’ll transform you into analytics aficionado – driving our business forward, and earning a decent salary with some amazing benefits while you’re at it.

At Virgin Media we’re committed to nurturing an inclusive culture, which includes a long-term vision of achieving 50/50 gender parity by 2025. It’s super-important for us to reflect equality and diversity in our workforce, especially for STEM* based subjects – and that’s why we’re encouraging women as much as men to come and hone their technical skills with us.

We’re looking for naturally curious, talented people who get a thrill from untangling data and delivering information that gets decisions made.

Join Virgin Media… Come and be a part of something special!
