Job Description

Leonardo's Cyber Degree Apprentice programme is looking for people who understand the importance of communication, you will also study with one of partner universities towards achievement of BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions

Responsibilities

During your employment, you will be required to share your time between the workplace and university. You will:

  • Grow your knowledge of cyber engineering
  • Develop practical skills in development for complex systems, understanding key processes and technologies.
  • Support early careers activities - our apprentices and graduates have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities
  • Commit to the successful completion of all your academic modules and assignments in support of the Apprenticeship standard (Ref:ST0119).

Qualifications Required

Qualifications.

  • 3 x A levels (Grade A-C) (or equivalent)
  • Mandatory: Mathematics and either Physics or a Technology/Engineering subject

AND Preferred: another STEM subject.

Plus.

  • 5 GCSE grades 9 - 4 or grades A*- C or equivalent,
  • Mandatory: English Language, Maths and a Science subject Plus 2 subjects

Note:  If the applicant has no ‘A levels’ but has achieved a BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering we will accept the application, with the caveat around attending the maths bridging course based on existing mathematics qualifications.  The Maths taught in this course does not carry any credit towards your degree. Each application will be considered individually in consultation with our partnering university.

Training Provided

Digital and technology solutions professional (integrated degree) (ST0119).

Involved in all phases of the Cyber Security lifecycle you will be exposed to the latest tools, technologies and processes and have the opportunity to influence the future path of cyber security development within Leonardo.  

Developing real-time cyber solutions, creating sophisticated analysis and support tools or contributing ideas to innovate the next generation of products, the challenges are varied.


Alongside this, you will also study with one of our partner Universities towards achievement of BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) degree in an appropriate engineering discipline through a mixture of work based learning, distance learning and day release at University. On completion you should have met the requirements for Incorporated Engineer as part of the way to gaining Chartered Engineer status.
 

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has little professional engineering experience is NOT suitable for candidates who already have an IT or cyber security degree.
