Job Description

Working in a busy Planning Technical Support Team you will be processing planning applications and associated tasks. Being part of our excellent team will allow you to deliver outstanding customer service. Your training plan will provide skills & knowledge about the planning process and provide opportunities to apply for vacancies on completion.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Log and deal with application related information received onto computer systems within strict timescales, deal with varied customer enquiries by phone/email and in person. Notify interested parties of applications/events via email/printing. Ensure information is published to our website correctly & clearly. Create powerpoint presentations and gather specific information. Other miscellaneous tasks as required.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your training will include learning all aspects of the planning process, including checking that information is correct and advising customers on what they need to provide, supporting the planning enforcement & appeals process. You will follow procedures to ensure that tasks are completed within government timescales. You will learn how to use databases and GIS systems to record, monitor and process workloads. You will participate in off the job training to expand your knowledge and skills.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Many of our previous apprentices have gone on and developed a career within our Service, where vacancies allow, either within the Technical Support Team or, as long as they have A Levels or equivalent, apply for a Trainee position where they can learn at degree level and progress into a Planning Officer or more into another service within the organisation. Support will be provided to help.

Reality Check

Preferred entry qualification is A level or equivalent to allow you to progress within Planning if required. Priory House is not very well served by public transport. Shortlisted applicants will be expected to confirm their ability to travel to and from this place of work and have a passion to learn new skills and an interest in working for CBC.
