As an apprentice, your 5 year development programme will be made up of up to 8 placement rotations. Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every apprentice’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:
In your first year, you’ll be working in Property Management and you will then rotate through other property teams for the rest of the period with us ranging from supporting tenants with day-to-day enquiries to helping to build new homes for Londoners. You will develop an understanding of the legislative knowledge necessary to succeed in Commercial Property – lease renewals, rent reviews, handling tenants, on the ground applications for refits, facilities and compliance.
During the course of your scheme, you will also be given a set of properties to manage and projects to run.
Example of year 1, 2 and 3 rotations are:
Year 1: Property Management – 12 months - Manage a portfolio and gain core property skills, essential to becoming a surveyor as well as a diverse set of experiences which give you a grounding for a wide range of property specialisms.
Year 2: Commercial Revenue –12 months - This involves developing projects, including identifying new retail space and letting this space. You’ll meet external suppliers and retailers alongside assessing bids. This also involves working with our project team, approving fit out designs to help the retailer get into TfL spaces.
Year 3: Operational Property – 12 months– In this team, you’ll gain hands on experience of valuations and rates.
Property Development – 6 months - This is key area of Commercial Development’s growth, where you’ll be involved in delivering new homes for Londoners.
Other – 6 months - You’ll rotate through strategy and customer and performance teams, providing an insight into the strategic approach we take, working on performance reporting and how we manage our customer base. This will give you some key experience on scorecards, finance and strategy.
This is an excellent route into the property industry and you will be supported as you complete your RICS APS qualifications. Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could roll-off into being a Property Surveyor which could lead to further career development opportunities such as Property Development and Commercial Revenue, using base experience as a surveyor in Management or Operational Property, to then move into Asset work.
You must be 18 years of age by 6th September 2021 or over to be eligible for this scheme due to Health and Safety requirements.

We’re looking for potential in all of our apprentices. We are looking for somebody who can demonstrate our behaviours which are Active, Accountable, Direct, Fair and Consistent and Collaborative.
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade A* - C or Grade 9-4 and above including maths and English language (or equivalents). Plus 3 A Levels A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in any subject.
You are not eligible for this scheme if you currently hold or are working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject or have already studied content from the qualification for this scheme.
Training Provider to be confirmed.
You will be working towards a Level 6 qualification in a Chartered Surveyor Degree Typically, you will be required to attend University 1 day per week, this is currently through remote learning.
Whilst on the scheme, we’ll support your technical development through a wide range of on-the-job practical experiences and placements. We’ll also support your professional development through a combination of classroom-led training courses, online training courses, mentoring opportunities and structured networking opportunities. You will receive one-to-one support throughout the programme from your scheme sponsor and your Line Manager. You’ll also be connected to a ‘buddy’ who will be a more experienced apprentice from the scheme.
We also have an established Graduate and Apprentice Committee as well as an Alumni group, these groups are powerful networks in developing your understanding of the organisation, different apprenticeship schemes and opportunities to develop your career. Many current graduates and apprentices believe this to be a powerful support network and they often hold apprentice only events that are very beneficial to your continued learning.
