What will the apprentice be doing?

A particular focus of this apprenticeship will be Computer Aided Design (CAD). The main duties will initially involve developing technical drawings, mainly for coastal and marine civil engineer projects. As your knowledge develops, the tasks will evolve to also include 3D Computer Aided design, design work and assisting with project work.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 apprenticeships are equivalent to A-levels. You need at least five relevant GCSEs or equivalent including English, maths and science.

Typically level 3 apprenticeships means going to college for one day and work the rest of the week.

Level 3 apprenticeships are an option for those moving into civil engineering at a later age although the entry requirements are the same.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

When apprentices have completed a civil engineering or built environment-related apprenticeship, they can apply to become an Engineering Technician (EngTech MICE) with ICE.
