Thursby Primary School are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their team.


Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Support small groups and individual children
  • Give regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher
  • Assist with general supervision of children
  • Meet children’s pastoral and physical needs
  • Create displays and help organise the classroom
  • Support teaching staff and help to prepare resources
  • Some break time supervision
  • Implement learning activities and/or interventions as required
  • Add value to teachers Quality First Teaching in class
  • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress
  • Support learning by arranging, providing resources for activities
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical wellbeing
  • Work 1:1, in pairs or very small groups linked to pupils EHCP needs
  • Support self-care needs of pupils
  • Support the physical development of pupils

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths and English.

Training Provided

This is a 12-month programme and you will gain these qualifications:

  • CACHE Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)
  • Functional skills in English, maths, and ICT (if applicable)
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
  • Be Safe
