An exciting opportunity to work and qualify within childcare, your main role will be to provide a safe and caring environment for children to play and learn in. You will be supported to develop in your childcare career, while working as a valuable team member at our unique Montessori Day Nursey.


You will be responsible for supporting staff with the care of children with regard to their physical, emotional and educational needs whilst working effectively as part of a team.

Duties will include:-

  • Adhering to the policies & procedures and ensuring all children are offered equal opportunities in relation to the equality and diversity act
  • Working with the Nursery Nurse on planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs
  • Liaising with parents ensuring effective communication within the nursery
  • Keeping and maintaining of children’s development records and observations
  • Positive management of children's behaviour
  • Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment
  • Providing a good role model for children and helping them fit into the nursery
  • Keeping and updating accident, incident and risk assessment records
  • Supervision of meals and mealtimes and where appropriate
  • Nappy changing and assisting with toileting
  • Assisting with meal times, food preparation and feeding
  • You will also to be required to help with the general housekeeping and tidying as well as completion of any necessary paperwork. You will also be expected to attend staff meetings/training as required

Future Prospects

Possible progression to higher apprenticeship or employment.

The candidate requires a real passion to work with children. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undertake a CRB clearance on commencement of employment.

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths
  • Childcare Level 2 NVQ or equivalent

Training Provided

  • Diploma for the Children and Young Persons’ Workforce Level 3
  • Award in Food Safety and Catering
  • Paediatric/Childcare First Aid
  • Functional Skills in maths Level 2 if required
  • Functional Skills in English Level 2 if required
  • Functional Skills in ICT Level 2
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
