Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a candidate, with a desire to learn and develop in administration, to complete their Level 3 qualification with the Children and Young People’s Social Care Team.


This is a fantastic chance for the right person to gain a qualification through practical experience in a busy office environment and through spending time learning in an educational setting. You will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities throughout your apprenticeship.

We are looking for two apprentices to join our administration team that supports the Multi Agency Reviewing Service. Our administration team provides a comprehensive business support to the teams that arrange and support the function of Child Protection Conferences and Reviews for Children in Care. The team is part of the wider Children’s Social Care team that meets the needs of vulnerable children, young people and families throughout Gloucestershire.

We are looking for a candidate who is keen to develop their skills in administration and contribute to a more innovative way of working.  They must, therefore, be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and have the ability to prioritise workload.

This is what we need you to do...

  • To undertake administrative duties to support the business needs of the Team and the wider service area using, where appropriate, computer based systems, to ensure that services are maintained effectively, flexibly and in a timely way so as to enable the service area and organisation to meet it objectives
  • To provide support with financial matters including electronic procurement packages, petty cash and accurate recording of purchases for budget monitoring purposes
  • To facilitate meetings, seminars and workshops. Including booking rooms / venues, sending invites, preparing agendas and support for meetings as required
  • Diary management where appropriate

Reality Check

  • The apprentice will be expected to attend learning sessions provided in small groups or one to one with a tutor, at the premises of a learning provider, a college or in the workplace
  • The apprentice’s skills will be assessed in the workplace by a visiting or a work-based assessor
  • The apprentice will be provided with ongoing support, advice and guidance throughout the apprenticeship to enable ongoing career development
  • The apprentice will have a line manager/mentor in the workplace to whom they will report. S/he will meet regularly to allocate the apprentice’s workload, identify any support required, and discuss their performance in the workplace and progress in the apprenticeship
  • Assist in the implementation of the organisation’s equal opportunities objectives with particular reference to any targets / positive actions set out in the [Fairness & Diversity Strategy]
  • To support a systematic approach to the archiving and appropriate disposal of information. · To respond and deal with queries via telephone, email and in person providing a high standard of customer care. · Assist with the response to all customer enquiries and requests for data in accordance with corporate standards and agreed guidelines
  • To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times within in your service area
  • To assist with statutory procedures within relevant service area
  • To undertake such other duties related to the work of the organisation as may be assigned that are consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility
  • To adhere to all organisation Health and Safety policies and procedures and other policies and procedures applicable to employees
  • The apprentice will be required to adhere to GCC employment terms and conditions

Qualifications Required

  • 4/C grade or above GCSE mathematics or equivalent.
  • 4/C grade or above GCSE English or equivalent.

Training Provided

Business Apprenticeship (Level 3).

The successful applicant will receive Induction and training appropriate to the activities he or she will undertake, and during this induction period will be enrolled to the  (Level 3) Business Apprenticeship with the Training Provider.
