Job Description

Are you passionate about the environment and want to help protect it? Are you looking for that first step into an administration role or want to change career? If so we can offer you the chance to become a valuable part of an administrative team providing comprehensive support to Directors as they lead delivery of our 25 Year Environment Plan.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Based in the Home Office building in Westminster where we work alongside our Defra Ministers, you will be well supported by experienced mentors and friendly colleagues.

You'll develop the skills to provide general administrative support to our Directors and our team. This will involve:
• Arranging meetings, preparing meeting papers,  organising events
• Managing Directors’ email boxes and responding to queries
• Prioritising urgent and sensitive work
• Attending or supporting virtual meetings

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You’ll be working with experienced Administrators and be part of a wider apprentice community made up of individuals with different talents and abilities and of all ages and backgrounds. You'll learn from online and remotely delivered training and from colleagues 'on the job'. You'll also receive time to complete your apprenticeship training via 'off the job' development - typically we would expect you to dedicate 20% of your contracted hours to the successful completion of your apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship contract is for 24 months. We cannot guarantee a permanent role on completion but you will be well placed to apply for vacancies within the Environment Agency.

Reality Check

You will need to take responsibility for completing coursework on time, maintaining up to date evidence for your assessments and put into practice what you’re learning by continuing to do your day job every day. You will be expected to work hard.
