Job Description

An exciting new role has developed within our School, working closely with the office team to ensure all day-to-day operations run smoothly by completing all administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner. The apprenticeship programme offers all the vital experience and training required to become an administrative asset in any company.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a professional, efficient, and enthusiastic person to join our Admin team and carry out a variety of Admin tasks to support the school. Good communication, administrative and IT skills are essential.

An interest in children’s educational wellbeing and a desire to work in a busy school office and reception is vital. You will need to develop the ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks which helps to make the day active and dynamic.

To undertake general administration duties, which may include:

  • Answering the telephone, receiving visitors to the school and dealing with routine enquiries
  • Word-processing, collation and distribution of correspondence, reports, minutes and other documents as required
  • Recordkeeping, ordering, photocopying, filing, and dealing with incoming and outgoing mail
  • To collect money and record payments for school meals, trips, and events;
  • To liaise with other school staff and outside agencies/organisations as appropriate
  • To assist with the provision of welfare support to the pupils of the school. This may include - undertaking minor first aid duties, assisting children with personal hygiene and notifying parents when children are ill

Hours:

  • 8.30am to 3.30pm (30 minutes lunch)
  • 32.50 per week - term time

The wage for this position is the National Living Wage for each age group.

Future Prospects

Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to a permanent role in the sector.

  • Good understanding of customer service, friendly and welcoming - able to demonstrate a professional approach in dealing with pupils, staff, parents and visitors
  • Is able to deal sensitively and confidentially with people and information with a sound understanding of the need for confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Ability and an interest to learn new systems and technologies
  • Ability to communicate via telephone clearly and confidently or in writing
  • Ability to work as part of a team, able to use initiative and common sense

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE or equivalent English and maths (Grade A*-C/9-4)
  • Essential (or equivalent qualifications) preferred
  • Administrative knowledge would be desirable
